Gesture Xtreme |
The Future of the interface has arrived - forget joysticks, head-mount displays (HMDs), gloves, mice and keyboards - use your whole body as an input device.
GestureTek has been providing state-of-the-art production and installation services with their unique patented Gesture Xtreme (GX) technology (formerly known as Vivid Group's Gesture Xtreme MANDALA System) for more than 15 years.
GestureTek has installed over 600 GX® Systems worldwide, and has produced major TV shows, multimedia tours and events based on our unique technology. Originally created for use as a performance medium, GX® technology branched out and quickly caught on as a powerful education and entertainment instrument.
The GX® System is amazing, its appeal based on the unique ability to allow the participant to interact unencumbered in virtual worlds populated by computer-generated objects.
|
How Does It Work? |
The company's GX® System uses real-time video capture as its main input device.
The participant steps in front of a chromakey blue backdrop.
A unique digital video camera picks up the participant's presence and converts (digitizes) the video signal into information that can be recognized and manipulated by computer software.
The participant's image is processed on the same plane as screen animation, text, graphics, and sound, which react accordingly depending on the movement of the player. This process is referred to as "video gesture", or the activity of initiating changes in a virtual reality environment through video contact. The GX® System is AMAZING, FUN & INTERACTIVE.
The participant's live on-screen video image responds at exactly the same time to movements lending an intensified degree of realism to the virtual reality experience. |
